Not just another woke story

Is the sky blue? Who decides whether the sky is blue or not? These questions most likely pop in all of our heads at one time or another. Many of us will usually let that thought linger for anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes and move on with your life. When thoughts like this continue to linger in your head for 7 minutes or longer you may be WOKE! When I use the word woke it is not to describe your alertness or how many facts you know about injustice; I use woke to describe a state of awareness by a human being. Being aware of everything that is going on around you is the key to a different kind of thinking pattern. These thinking patterns don’t make you crazy, they make you… Well maybe it does make you a little crazy!

Sometimes crazy is good when it comes to being aware about the world around you! Walt Disney, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg, also had strange ways of thinking when they created these multi-billion dollar industries. You must be wondering how we got here from “is the sky blue?” In order to become successful in anything you must challenge the normal. Traditional thinking is still a big part of today’s culture because everyone wants stability and so they close their minds to all the opportunity this world has to offer. Being woke is about defying the odds because you have opened your mind to every opportunity that this life has to offer. The great minds that I have discussed were innovative in thinking and did not care about how many people said they wouldn’t do it!

I will leave you with one more question. Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity? You may have to think about that, but if take a look at some of your more famous stories, you can see that Walt Disney, Bill Gates, and some of our other innovative thinkers were viewed as insane because their way of thinking was ahead of its time, but they went for it anyway. Never let anyone persuade you that being normal is okay. I truly believe we are all meant to do something special; we just have to be brave and fearless enough to chase after whatever that may be. Stay woke everyone!
