It is said that the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. While this is true, nobody ever mentions distraction. If you are worried about a million other things, you are not worried about your own soul. How can you worry about something or someone else if your own soul is out of wack. This is what we often try to do when our life is in disarray. It is so much easier to help people with their problems when you’re trying to distract yourself from your own.
John 14:27 says, “peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let them be afraid”. In times like the ones we are experiencing now, it is important to understand how God can keep you safe even when you’re staring an epidemic right in the face.
We know there is an almighty presence out there because if there wasn’t all of our struggle would be without purpose. This is why healthy adults can be taken off of this planet with little explanation and why people get angry when “bad” things happen. As someone who believes in an all powerful and knowing God, I put quotation marks around bad because “bad things” is such a relative term. The things that non believers call bad things, I call life.
Life is full of joy, happiness, pain, and sorrow, but no matter what season you’re in, things happen for the will of Gods purpose for your life and every life that walks this earth. Having faith in God means not worrying about what will happen next, but trusting that whatever happens next, God will keep you in his perfect will. Sometimes he will put you on a ship as a prisoner to spread the good news. Sometimes he will put you in a lions den to show you that he will protect you even when life seems like it is going to chew you up and spit you out!
Joyce Meyers says that worry is a down payment on a problem that you may never have! What good is worrying about something that you have no control over? You are going to drive yourself crazy freaking out over a jacked up flu that you may never get with certain precautions. Stretching yourself out financially to make sure you got enough toilet paper which is going to lead to financial stress down the line.
The other day, a guy at work asked me why I didn’t have on like gloves or a mask, and I told him I had protection and it was in the form of Jesus Christ. He told me that I get that, but you’re gonna need more than that. I told him if you believe that our God is not the same. When we put in the armor of God we are protected. That means no virus can stop us, no disease can break us, and not even the grave can hold us!
We are protected believers! Through grace and mercy we are saved. Let us not be anxious for tomorrow because tomorrow will be anxious for itself… have faith and stand strong in his armor! Worry not… and stay woke my friends!
